Camera Over Hot

I am hoping someone can advise me? I recently used my Pentax K30 and it did have quite a work out with a telephoto lens using it there were no problems and photos were great. However i turned the camera off and put it in its case and travelled home. Once home about a couple of hours later i went to look at the photos i took and to my alarm the camera was hot?? never had this before? and the camera was off, i tried to turn it on but it wouldn't? i decided to take the battery out to see if that helped and yes everything then began to cool down? I haven't used the camera since and i am rather concerned about what the problem was and if its done any damage? If anyone can advise me i would really appreciate it. Many Thanks.

Was it frozen when you put it away? If so that would explain the heat; sometimes freezes happen and you have to just pull the battery as you ultimately did.

;Jackie, as far as I know, the battery is the only thing that will get hot. I'd sure buy a new one, charge it up and try it out. Hopefully the camera wasn't damaged from the heat.

Also, there's a AA adapter available for the K30 - you could try that and some good rechargeable batteries (Eneloops come to mind). Good luck!!
