Using manual lenses with a Pentax K-50

I recently bought a DSLR Pentax k50.
I also owned a film Ricoh XP-R with 3 vintage lens: 1) Sigma 60-200 mm 1:4-5.6
2) Mc Hanibex automatic 28 mm 1:2.8
3) Rikenon Ricoh 50 mm P 1:2
I have tried to use those lenses on my new Pentax but am unable to use the aperture ring even if I did what was explained in my user book ( select enable in using aperture ring on the custom setting). The shutter speed changes according to the ISO I choose but there is no difference whatsoever when I move the aperture ring.
Will apreciate any insight.
Thanks

Since these are K-mount lenses, the actual aperture will only change at the time of image capture. Sounds like you're doing everything correctly, so you should get well-exposed shots.

Make sure you are in M mode.

Are you using the green button? That may be the one step you have left out.It stops the lens down to the aperture you select and sets the exposure.
