Flashing F-Stop in Viewfinder

I have two lenses. The original 18-55 and a 80-200 pentax zoom. When I change to the zoom lens I'm getting a flashing F- - - - sign in the live view mode. I can't take a picture. If I change back to the 18-55 lens everything is normal.....

What camera and what shooting mode are you in?

Hi,
What model 80-200mm Pentax zoom are you attempting to use? There are several versions...(listed newest to oldest)

SMC Pentax-FA* 80-200mm f/2.8
SMC Pentax-FA 80-200mm f/4.7-5.6
SMC Pentax-F 80-200mm f/4.7-5.6 (Labeled Pentax 80-200)
SMC Pentax-A 80-200mm f/4.7-5.6
SMC Pentax-M 80-200mm f/4.5
SMC Pentax 80-200 f/4.5

Knowing which lens will allow us to provide you advice.

Somewhere in the custom settings of your camera, will be the custom menu item "Using the Aperture Ring" It's defaulted to disabled. Set it to enable.
Alternatively, check that the aperture ring is set to 'A' on the lens.
