Sounds like the spring in the slot may have failed. This shouldn't be a difficult repair at a service center.

I never have this problem with my 4 Pentax DSLR from K20D to K3, even dropped, bounced and rolled on the ground, may be the card getting too excited knowing a new camera is in the making and coming soon ha !

You've not said what camera you are using, so difficult to say. Have you checked that there is no obstruction in the card slot ?

Usually you push the card in until you feel a slight click which should lock it in. If it's not pushed in far enough, it will come back out. Does this happen if you try another card? If it is a failure of the locking mechanism, the repair shop is pretty much the only option.

I have the same problem with a laptop but I still manage to use SD card reader anyway. Just a bit harder to pull SD card once done

This issue is probably not common but it has been reported before. As Adam suggested you may want to have it checked.
