The last price that surfaced was $2075 on nokishita originally posted in . Before we saw a listing for 2060. I think it will land below $2000 or 1900 dropping only slightly in price in the next year. All just speculation. Give me place and time and I will surrender the money.
We are getting even closer. Photorumors has evidence for $1900 w.o. tax.

So . . . what does everyone plan doing with their SMC Pentax-FA* 85mm f 1.4 IF lenses? Wondering how much the price will fall? or not?

The price has already fallen significantly. It's pretty easy today to find excellent copies for under $750. I very nearly pulled the trigger on a very well-kept one at under $650 a few days ago.

Hey Sergysergy, I finally got that Sigma 24, it spent 16 days in the parking lot on the back of a truck at Mississauga customs. You gotta love Covid (or you'll probably start crying.)

That is pretty much my sentiment as well. Mine is a mint copy, and performs perfectly, especially for portraiture. I appreciate the SDM and AW features, though they would not be very valuable to me since I do not do portraiture in the rain and always focus manually in order to get spot-on focus, and not quite clear to me how the new lens could surpass the existing one from an optical standpoint. I am open to reason, however, and look forward to early reviews.

Other features over the FA 85 one will get with the new lens will be more than twice the weight (550g vs 1255g), 54mm additional length, 16mm fatter needing 82mm filter vs 69mm, no aperture ring, well over twice the price . . . I love that focal length and am hoping the new lens is so much better that it warrants its cost and the hassle of lugging it around. Right now, since my interest in that FL is general purpose and not portraits, my 320g Voigtlander 90 SLii still holds the spot as my favorite lens.

Good points. Actually, the current lens is so good optically that it is difficult to imagine very much improvement. Early reviews should be enlightening.
