Use Non Digital Lens with Digital

I have a Pentax K-50 and it works great. Its my first digital cam after several Pentax standard models. However, I have a question. I just rediscovered an old zoom lens I had for a prior Pentax. It's a Sigma Aspherical IF 28-300mm. It fits my K50. However when I put it on it won't do auto focus and also I have to once press the shutter release for an F stop setting to appear on the cam menu screen. Does anyone know if I can solve this or am I just beating a nearly dead horse? The lens worked great on my old non digital Pentax. Thanx in advance.

Make sure the aperture ring is set to A. You have to push the little button down and make sure it clicks in. If it is set to a the lens contacts may need to be cleaned.
