I really like Lowepro GearUp Creator Box, but sizes do not really work for me. The Large size is too small for my set up (KP, Sigma 10-20, DA16-85, DA55-300), but XL is too large. It will have a lot of void that I do not want to have). Are there any alternatives? I want an insert into a non-photo backpack that could be opened on top (for access while in the backpack), and on a side (for packing).

Have a look at the Tenba BYOB inserts, they do a specific rucksack insert which is quite neat in two sizes.
