1. I like the design, ergonomic-wise it seems best than anything that size. That's a point Pentax always get done right.
2. Mode dial: M / Av / Tv ... Nice to know this camera has photographer blood.
2. Not being compatible with K-mount is bummer, but for that size it really can't be.
3. Sensor too small. I hope the IQ is not crap.
4. 800 USD is simply too expensive.
5. Also, the black version is beautiful.

I have mixed emotions about this product. I would certainly buy one with kit lens + a wide if the IQ is good, but 800 USD is just crazy.

The Pentax Q is expected to begin shipping in Japan by this August. Availability of camera and lenses in the US market will follow in early Fall 2011, and US-market pricing is expected to be in the region of US$800 inclusive of the 47mm-equivalent f/1.9 kit lens.
The PENTAX 02 Standard Zoom will cost around US$300, while the PENTAX 03 Fish-Eye is expected to ship for around $130. The lo-fi PENTAX 04 Toy Lens Wide and PENTAX 05 Toy Lens Telephoto lenses should cost around $80 apiece. Other accessories will include a shoe-mount optical viewfinder for around $250, as well as a 40.5mm polarizing filter and two lens hoods for the Pentax 01 and 02 lenses with price not yet disclosed.

Absolutely insane prices....
I will agree with you on that. I can by some nice limiteds with all that money.

Well whoever wishes for a digital Auto110 surely got it. Sensor size disappointing but we already expected that from the rumors...

Wait until it hits the US market towards the end of the year, and after all the new models from Sony, Panasonic etc hit the street. Those prices won't stay that high.

Did they build this for the Japan market? or the world market?
I can see it selling in Japan, but with camera phones pushing 8-10 meg, they better have amazing IQ to justify carrying it in addition to your phone.

Did anyone notice 1/2000 sec flash sync?
Hope they implement something similar in the K-5 successor.

Its due to the Electronic Shutter ala Nikon D70x sorta... only way you could sync that high without relying on HSS etc...

I am fascinated by this camera for its:
1/2000 sec flash sync with 47mm and zoom lens
in camera HDR mode
Green Button
+/- button puts last jpeg to RAW
intervelometer!
magnesium alloy body
leaf shutters in the premium lenses
retro syling

But I don't know if I can bring myself to pay $800 for a camera with 1/2.3 sensor. But I'm sure this camera will be a blast to use.

$800 pricetag torpedoes any interest I may have had.

Agreed...

Especially since one can get better image quality, at a lower price with the below, which is just about the same size:

Sony NEX-3 with 16mm F2.8 Lens: $549.99
