The Q is small enough to be used as a colonoscope...given a determined enough proctologist.

And if shoved up a big-enough a$$hole, eh?

Present company excluded, of course.

..and of course the fantastic classic from Heinz when they introduced their famous Heinz Baby Food into an African country and were confused at the very low sales ...... until they found out most of the locals couldn't read and went by the picture on the front as a clue to the contents.

Well, this thread is over a year old... and the Q has more or less established itself amongst amateurs of tiny cameras.

Like many Q owners, I've often been questioned about my "awesome tiny camera" and had to basically explain it to people. Being French Canadian you can imagine how that went...

Oui j'aime vraiment la Q! (Yes I really like ass/the Q)
La Q est minuscule et solide (the ass/Q is tiny and solid)

Fortunately it's name never raised an eye... mostly because in French everything has a gender and an ass is male (le cul) and a camera is female (une caméra). So we refer to the Pentax Q as "La Q".

So:
Le Q (cul) = butthole
La Q = awesome tiny camera which attracts LOTS of attention

La leçon de Français est terminée.

Pat

PS: Mods may want to move this thread to the Q section

In France we would say "Le Q" because we say "appareil photo" (and not "caméra", which is mode for video) and this is masculine gender.
Donc "ce Q est parfait!"

International product branding is a minefield & Japanese quite often get it a bit wrong

the car companies spring to my mind.

Mistubishi "Starion" (turbo sports coupe) - was meant to be "Stallion" (the smaller model was a Colt)

Mitsubishi " Pajero" - means wannker (playing with your own straw) in Spanish, so they renamed it "Montero" for Spain & South America

A Swedish guy I was working with a couple of years ago had much amusement when Honda made the "Fitta" & in the Philippines we also found a brand of savoury cream filled biscuit also called "Fita" - this a slang term in Swedish for errr.... ladies parts..

Toyota released the MR2 which in French would be pronounced emm-err-deux = merde. (sh!t)
Well, didn't Mitsubishi also release a car in Europe, named as an oxymoron: "Mitsubishi Carisma"?

Bonjour,

Wow, this thread is still active ...?!

I am just wondering if we will soon be seeing the second generation of the "Q" ... same name or maybe something else like "Q2" or "QQ" ... ?!

Salut, John le Frog
