Hmmm Pentax-Q with a Bigma 50-500 on it sure could stretch for those long shots.. no TC's ever needed!
Or a nice DA*300 would sure be nice.. or do you need the Aperture Ring with the adapter??

Beyond f/4 you will hit diffraction issues on the Q - the effect is clear in the photozone reviews. So Bigma would not work that great, but the DA* might, because it's f/4.

on..I see..ye..from the data at photozone..iq at f5.6 really degrade a lot compare to f4

and OP photo are all took slower than f5.6...maybe if someone try f4 lens..iq can increase a bit...

He may not be welcome here, but Otis gives your Squirrel shots a thumbs up anyhow. He says it is not necessary to thank him, but if you do...sending a bushel of that corn is perfectly acceptable!
Regards!

Well I think that Scott's pictures are astounding, frankly. I'm looking forward to seeing the quality of Clavius's 2000mm shots of the head of a small bird. Anyone that is a true birder needs to see pictures of often unknown distant birds for identification purposes. Whatever some may think this could only be achieved previously by digiscoping (or perhaps the latest superzoom bridge cameras?). This is what it is competing with - not a competition winning bird portrait taken with £10k of kit. If this technique is easier than the above and of equal or better quality then it is worthwhile pursuing.
