Does anyone has samples of Q with a macro lens?

I'm looking toward a purchase of the Q with the possibility that its added DOF and/or crop magnification would be an advantage for macro usage.
Does anyone here have samples taken with the Q and any macro lens?
Thanks

Hi phc,

There are some preliminary samples in this thread:

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-q-forum/163063-macros-q.html

I plan on shooting a lot of macro with the Q, but the flash idiosyncrasies have put this on the back burner for me. I'm hoping that they'll fix at least some of them sometime before spring, and when they do, I'll start practicing seriously at that time since I don't have many subjects that interest me enough to shoot indoors. Personally, I'm hoping that Pentax's next Q Quality Line lens is some sort of tele/dedicated macro.

The best way for your project is in my opinion, to wire e.g. an AF360FGZ on the Q's flash connector with P-TTL function and light "diffuser".

Thanks snostorm, very detail look at the question I had.

Some samples of insects and such would be nice,

Ghost Mantis Macros

These were shot with the 01 lens and a binocular eye-piece glued to a 40.5mm UV filter- so it retains AF.....not the ideal macro setup but it works for fun!
This is an African Ghost Mantis juvenile which is about the size of a sunflower seed- so this is quite small....hope you like them!

Bee macro

Here's a 2 shot, focus stacked macro I took with a Sigma 28-80mm lens with extension tubes. It's normally about a 1:2 macro, but with the tubes it's about 1:1.

Final version

Final version of my bee macro:

This was for a Gizmodo photo challenge for a sunlit macro. I constructed a blackout box out of a tissue box, black construction paper, and gaffers tape. I cut a hole in the top for the lens and a tiny hole in the side for the sunlight to come through. This is a bit closer than 1:1 macro range, taken with my Sigma 28-80mm lens at 80mm with extension tubes.

I tried the D FA 100mm on the Q today. Here are a few shots of the Q with lens and a couple of macro shots. I would love to see more from you guys!

Zorglub, that looks awesome! Do you have any samples of the 100WR and the Q doing some distant shots like birds or wildlife? Or low light such as concert or stage performance?
Thanks,
Larry

Hi Larry,

I have a few with the previous version of this lens, the D FA 100 f2.8 Macro. These were taken late afternoon, less than an hour before sunset, so the light's not great. Remember that this lens gives a 35mm FOV EQ of 550mm with the Q (360mm EQ on an APS-C body) and there's no SR available for adapted lenses at this time with the Q.

All were handheld, and were shot before I realized that focus assist magnification was available with adapted lenses. I had recently gotten the adapters to use my K mounts with the Q, and was just trying some lenses out, seeing what they could do, so these are not really representative of the best the Q could do with this lens. . .All were shot wide open at f2.8

From around 12-15 feet.

From @ 4 ft, indoors

From @ 30 ft

All were PP'd to taste with just a light application of Topaz Denoise, then sharpened with Topaz InFocus with deconvolution and micro contrast only and downsized in steps.

Beautiful shots Scott!

Larry, no not yet but I am planning to. Seeing what Scott has shot with it confirms that it is capable of taking good wildlife shots. It makes for a pretty portable ~500mm lens eh? :-)
