@ndjedinak: Great series, great conversions! Tack sharp & contrasty.

@pinholecam: Love the bugs! I have not yet used any flash with the Q on my macro, but I'm very excited by results so far. Getting 1:1 has never been easier than with the Q!

@k10perry: thanks, I quite enjoy the Q's B&W. It's great to be able to get that straight out of camera, without futzing about in a "digital darkroom." I was never much of a chemical darkroom guy, either... And the Q works really well for this

Visited a nearby castle & associated garden. Straight from the Q, some in-camera HDR on some, otherwise no post-processing:

And nope, these aren't great art nor great photos, but just a few snap-shots with a Q

That fly shot is awesome.
Its one of those shots that just shows that the proof is in the photos and not the abundant theories/intrigues (by the PF armchair experts) that got thrown at the Q when it came out.

I had a limited 45mins before needing to rush home to the usual chores.
Forgot the LCD loupe and fresh batteries for the flash.
This time I tried to venture a bit nearer to 1:1, but scared off a few good opportunities in my haste.
The flash went out of juice after a few shots....

This is probably a crop off 40% of the image. I had a 1:1 version, but not enough DOF to cover from segmented eyes to mouth.

This one taken with 12s timer and no flash (since it was flat... )

Far from 1:1. Scared this one off within one pop of the flash.

Feed me!

(The photo was not carefully taken, the nest is above my garage door so I jumped up with my camera in hand to snap the photo before mom came back and attacked me)

You are getting me really excited, I just bought some pentax extension tubes for my CV40 with close up lens for my K-01 and have been bug chasing... I really need to get a k to Q adapter because my set up right now is a one shot go as after the shot I'm so close if whatever I'm shooting has wings it's gone, I'll be able to stay far back and still have a super small setup with the Q and obviously still get wonderful images...

You should be excited.....

Something else for today.

Just can't get enough of macro now with the Q.
Rushed home to grab my gear for a short 45min session at the nearby park.

The capability of the Q with a macro lens never fails to amaze me.
On APS-C, I would have needed a long lens + reversed 50mm and still crop a lot to get near (but still not exactly) this.
And then struggle with the limited range of focusing due to the reversed lens.

But with the Q, its easy peasy....
Just focus at the distance I need.
Far, near, no problem at all.

Jumping Spider about 4mm in size.

Hmm... he looks like a hairy crab... wonder if he's tasty
