Took the Q and the 01 out and about the other day. Was pleasantly surprised at how well it did despite the slight lag between shots.

Shot against the light.

Also tried some of the preset dials on the Q. Was very surprised. I always thought it was a bit of a gimmick. Why shoot black and white or whatever, when I can just do it all PP and at least have all the colours preserved for the original?

Well, this black and white processing blew me away a bit.

suddenly everything looks better in black and white...

And then there's the duotone preset....

Suffice to say it was a very productive photo day....

I quite like that first one. A nice candid. She really does seem engrossed in her conversation.

i hope you're being careful not to let water get on your Q and specially on the lens, i have my 01 on life support at the rice intensive care unit after a 'shower' session, the lens refuses to focus..shame on me really for being so careless

thank you hnikesch, the Q itself doesnt seem to be that much affected its just the 01 lens, i've just tested the lens after a several hours period of dehumidifying it and looks like its good as new, but still have to test it out there the next days to be sure

Indoor "street photography" with the Q10

This was my first real outing with the Q10 and I decided to give it a spin at the Pickering Flea Market in Ontario, Canada. This sprawling place is like a world bazaar in miniature, a united nations of cheap kitsch on sale among a cultural clash of divergent ethnicities. So, it’s ample hunting grounds for indoor street photography. In order to remain stealthy, I turned off the flash and hoped for the best with the available light. This is a challenge for most cameras, especially one with a tiny sensor like the Q10. Luckily, I had far more keepers than ruined shots.

I really wanted to change my perspective a bit and play with the art filters. Granted, one can achieve similar effects in Photoshop, but it is not the same as capturing an altered image in the moment. Shooting this way can make the mundane far more interesting. So it was a day to say to hell with high resolution, ISO noise, focus speed and all the other distractions to just shooting for the fun of it.

Mother-Daughter Dance

One of the things I love about the Q7 with the 01 Prime is that you can keep it in the pocket of a jacket or cargo shorts. Which means you can always have it with you when little moments come up.

The other night, after we finished eating our dinner on the deck, my daughter grabbed my wife and said, "Dance with me!" Fortunately, the Q7 was in my pocket at that moment.

new Q10 user

Just received my Q10 a week ago (after some hassle and a month of waiting, Pentax -Ricoh Europe overhere doesn't really seem to be bothered to sell the thing) and I love it. Good (enough) image quality, very portable (obviously) and just a lot of fun. Don't compare this to a DSLR, as to many do. It's not meant to be. Look at the last picture (did anyone say da 15 limited starburst?)....lots of flare, reds all over the place and untidy, but who cares...it's Q10 fun.
