Nice job on the time lapse Larry, now if I could just get myself into the habit of carrying a tripod.
I keep this with me all the time in the little Q case, i just placed the cam on the airport windowsill.

How you folks continue to have fun with a clearly inferior camera is beyond me!

(I was surprised to see the plane gradually get lower as it filled with passengers and luggage, but I guess it makes sense.)
Shots were taken at 10 second intervals, each shot is displayed for .1 seconds in the movie.

Pretty neat! I'm fairly certain that I've stared out of that very window, lol.

Some clueless guy again posted some RX100III camera size shots vs Q7 in the non-Pentax section.

Whats not to like about Q7?
Its a mini 200mm in the bag.

Q7+06

Thanks for the reminder, I have a few of those small pocket tripods on my bags but always forget them

I don't often succeed with portraits, but I quite like this one.

Pentax Q with Sonnetar 25 mm @ f/1.1, 1/50 s, ISO 125
A very moving and personal photograph!

Looks like you are making good use of the Sonnetar.

What settings do you folks use on your Q? I typically use Av, and the color balance usually seems a bit askew. Many of your shots look sharper, too

Our Shih Tzu Isaac on sentry duty protecting the property. Taken with the Q7 + 01 Lens and processed in Lightroom.

I mostly shoot jpeg in P mode, custom image in natural, all filters off but find I need to add some sharpness and contrast in Post. Just got LR5 in Jan. and I like the clarity, Vibrance sliders and sharpening better than PSE sharpness and contrast

I'm still experimenting, but I've come to the conclusion that either letting the camera add sharpening/contrast by processing in camera or adding it yourself with your RAW software of choice is necessary to get really good results. It's not that the camera and lenses are not good optically. It's just that the sensor is not the type to produce a lot of contrast without prcessing. Of course, it also helps to shoot at a low ISO and a wide enough aperture to prevent much diffraction. Of course nobody but you can rule out the possibility of technical issues with a certain camera or lens.

I see the potential to shoot in RAW and process many alternate ways in camera as being quite useful to help you get just the shot you want. In my view perhaps the biggest drawback to the Q7 over my APS-C cameras is reduced dynamic range, but you can work with it, and the in camera HDR can help as long as you can live with a jpeg instead of a RAW shot.

Thanks Hans & Charlie. I'm still experimenting, too. I've tried both; in-camera and RAW. It seems sometimes one works better than the other. I have been keeping the aperture at f/4 or larger, and usually go no higher than ISO200. It is a quirky little camera, but I have gotten some nice photos from it. I'll just keep working at it.

BIF with Q7/01

Not a great picture but I thought it kind of neat that even the little 01 could grab a BIF. Cropped, of course. This is from the slightly processed DNG.

The Sonnetar's softness works well here, I think.

At the end of the tunnel

Spidey was shot at minimum focusing distance. That 01 is a nifty little lens, I should use it more...
