05 Toy lens, 2sec, ISO 125 turned into an image that looks like it came from a 1980's encyclopedia.
Excellent images. The keyboard shot with the 05 is one of the best I've seen using that lens. Remarkable results.

Thanks for sharing,

I should have probably made some effort to clean the dust on the mouse pad as the flash revealed them. I didn't bother since I didn't really have much hope for the 05 lens, but out of all my keyboard shots that are nice and crisp, this one is actually my favorite!

Pentax Q7 with F100/2.8 macro

Did a test shot of the new setup.
New diffuser and new smaller Godox TT350 that can sit lower and nearer the lens/subject.

Woke up too late to do any serious shots in the late morning, but managed to stop a housefly.

Great work! Be sure to share it in the Lens Club. This is a fine demonstration of the Q's macro ability with a good lens

Great Picture! How close was the lens to the subject? The F100/2.8 is roughly ~ 460 mm in FF terms. that is a really long focal length for a macro.

Cheers!

About 30-40cm away.
The advantage of the Q macro is that there is no max or min focus distance unless close up lenses, extension tubes. It works exactly like a macro lens on a camera.
I can start shooting from full body framing of the insect and gradually move to a much closer head shot without issues.

Wow, but ask you with a flash and adapted lens on Q, surely the shutter was really slow? Would this be possible with a bug on a leaf ! Great result.

2 things..

If its a 'dummy' adapter flash sync is 1/15, but if its night/early morning macro or the lens stopped down enough to discount ambient lighting, then only the flash will contribute to exposure and hence shutter speed and shake becomes irrelevant.

I got the Pentax Q adapter and this is even better. 2 ways to use it.
1. On camera flash to trigger off camera flash and sync is 1/1000 or 1/2000 (can't recall exactly which from my last try ); The downside is the camera flash recycle time and battery consumption. Also, manual flash and no PTTL.
2. PTTL flash like the Godox TT350 that I am using in this setup; I tried up to 1/250 which is more than enough (might be able to be higher, just yet to try); The nice thing with this is that its PTTL and I just set the ISO, shutter speed and aperture and let the flash take care of exposure.

Note to self : Recharge flash batteries before going for a shoot.

Q + Kern Paillard Yvar 36mm f2.8

mind blown by this lens. I was really keeping my expectations low and thought I might be wasting my time and money because I already have the 06 lens. I think I was proven wrong big time by this 60yo lens.

I have all 3 110 lenses coming soon. I want to see how they stack up to this excellent lens!

Moon with SP 23 A and Pentax Q

Moon with Tamron Adaptall SP (23 A) at 300 mm and Pentax Q, some sort of teleconverter (Baader Q-barlow giving circa 1,7 - 1,8x in this particular setup). Heavily cropped.
One can see craters Kepler, Copernicus and Erastothenes up (left to right) and Gassendi plus Mare Humorum dark area left down.
