Love this shot except for the modern SUV. Sort of kills the old-timey vibe you had going on with the classic architecture, brick wall texture, and the contrasty B&W. Still a nice shot though.

File 29

This little camera has great capabilities. I am excited about learning to use it. This shot was cropped by at least 50%.

After about 500 shots playing with all my lenses I have found the Q is much more demanding on my glass than my Kr. I have a sharp (on Kr) Sears 135 f2.8 macro that I had high hopes for and a 80-200 f4 that just can't cut it on the Q. On the long side I am pleased with the results of my SMC-M 135 f3.5, Super Tak. 200 f4, Tamron 70-300, DAL 55-300 and the best results come from my DA 18-135 but I hate to take if off my Kr. Here are a few from the 135 f3.5 and the last one from the Tamron. The Tamron is a trace sharper and has more contrast than the DAL but more PF'ing All were hand held using a hood loop

Thanks for posting these hnikesch, nice to see these fine results with those lenses.

I tried my 18-135 zoom briefly on my Q and was not pleased with the results, but that was before the new firmware - I'll have to try again.

I was about to study the subject fromdifferent angles and explore the possibilities with the reflection in the windows when the security guard asked me to delete the pictures taken on the premises from the camera...I was able to save this one assuring the guard that my kid would be so sad when I would tell him that the bad bad security guard prevented me from taking a picture of holidays ornaments...

Dance

I shoot a lot of dance performances. Unfortunitely, some of the venues I used to shoot in now forbids DSLRs with tele lens. It's a financial thing - they hire an outside company to take photos and sell them onsite. They let in small cameras though - and the Q got through the door OK.

I'm still working out optimal settings and such for myself, so these aren't intended to be perfect shots or anything.
I'm definitely going to need a longer lens than the 01 Standard prime. I always shoot RAW. This is a straight conversion.
ISO 125 - 1/160

Here's a 100% crop:

Just can't get close enough with the 01. Thought I'd give the 05 Toy a go. It's too slow:
ISO 1000 - 1/100 at F8 - 18mm

... and a 100% crop:

I had a hell of a time trying to chase focus with the 06. Out of the 50 or so shots I took, I only managed to get a few sharp ones. Definitely not for fast moving stuff!

Considering I normally use Pentax 50-135 for this, I'm thinking the new 06 zoom will be EXACTLY what I need. Although none of the above are perfect, I think with the 06 and a little more experience, I'll be able to get exactly what I want and the Q makes a perfect "hey, that's a toy we'll let it in the door" stealth tool!
