Awesome shots, thanks for taking us a long on the hike. Looks like an amazing place.

Hi crewl1, Nice work on the grasshopper with the Q! It looks like the Pentax K to Q adapter will allow us to tap some exceptional potential from the little cam for handheld macro with flash -- I can't wait. . . Just curious -- what aperture and shutter speed were used?
Shutter speed was 1/100 sec, unfortunately I did not record the aperture but usually dial it to max around 3 or 4 for macro for greater depth of field (still haven't figured out what that translates to in f stop.)

After that any depth of field advantage gets negated by diffraction. It also becomes harder to see as the view becomes dark.

Here is another comparison from yesterday, similar settings. Same distance with K-5 (no flash) vs. Q (w Flash) using DFA100WR. The Q shot was at 1/40 sec.

DOH! I didn't even bother to read the manual/sheet that came in the package. There is a translation scale

Today looked promising for a walk.

Those are stairs, normally. Good thing I don't have to use them.

Most things lose their colour in this weather, but not kids' clothes.

As much as I wanted to bring my Kr, it might become to heavy with a total 16km, 4hrs trek which does not include an almost 1 off road drive! The Q is just perfect for such a trip! Oh how I pity the other hikers with their heavy DSLRs and by the time they reached the summit base, it was their guide that were carrying most of their cameras!

Thanks for viewing!
Very nice series, thanks for the guided tour!

Lens free photography

Given that the Q can take a photo without any lens attached at all, I decided to set it to AWB and ISO250 and press it up near things of varying brightness to get different shutter speeds. (It seems the EXIF reports the last-used SR focal length, as if an adapted lens is attached!).

Not exactly "art," but I found it pretty interesting to see the results of the electronic shutter in action when the sensor is nearly pressed up against a cut-glass tumbler of scotch. (Oh yeah, that explains it...)

At first I was fairly perplexed as to what exactly I was looking at. My vivid imagination began to race to all sorts of wild conclusions and then I finally read your post. A little disappointed I must say...

Hey, if you want to imagine purple silk and physical mayhem, that's fine with me...
