Wow, thats hefty. Think it will work as long as you are careful and the JB Weld goes well. Other choice is to check out some of the tripod rings that snostorm uses.
thanks

I found this approach. (Halfway down the page.) Looks promising, the only thing is that I'd want to be sure I could get the zoom ring all the way back to engage the macro mode. Before I do anything with a mount, I think I'll check it out on the Q first to see how it performs. If it sucks on the Q, there's no need to mess with a mount. It's a terrifically sharp lens, but more prone to PF than the Pentax 55-300.

Thanks for your help. I truly appreciate it!

Happy holidays,
Bob :-)

Could work well. I would do as you said, and test the lens before going to a lot of expense and work.

Need to correct my explanation of fixing the adapter tripod foot. I found the proper threaded bolts not screws. Of three hardware stores Ace, Lowes, and Menards, only Menards had the proper metric bolts. They are like 2 or 2.5mm. Way too small for this application imho.
thanks

Merry Christmas.

Good to know. I have a Menards nearby. Thanks for saving me some work. :-) You'd think it wouldn't have been a big deal for them to put bigger bolts in the thing. I'm sure it wouldn't have added much to manufacturing costs.

These pics are making me itchy for my Q to hurry up & get here!

Merry Christmas back at ya! - Bob :-)

Went back and retouched this photo a bit and now I am much happier with it. Not nearly as flat as before!

Very overcast towards the evening might have something to do with that. I don't know. Could be the lens?

Fotodiox Q to K with Pentax DA 40mm f/2.8 Lens on Pentax Q
Not sure what the shutter speed or ISO settings were at but lighting was very dim. No flash.

Folks if you can please add review info about your adapted lenses to the thread https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-q/209474-adapted-lenses-tested-q-r...ce-thread.html so we can try to bring them together in one spot.

Thanks and Merry Xmas!

I like the way Los Angeles can look after a rainstorm. 02 zoom, Auto HDR mode.

VisualDarkness, that first shot with the cups is really quite sharp and detailed not to mention the interestingly unique illustrations. I'm also digging the background bokeh. A wee bit too much white going on there but other than that, good stuff!
