seriously, i think almost everyone have a 01 lens.
I disagree - the Q kits with the 01 lens have been much harder to find than with the 02 lens. Plus you can not buy the 01 lens by itself.

Another from my park outing the other day, a seagull about to swoop down and snatch food away from the ducks in the water. Aggressive critters.

I've got the Q since a couple of weeks, and I'm enjoying it a lot because the small size and silentness of the shutter. Ideal for candid shooting, even if the IQ is not as high as I expected.

Some samples, all manual focus, wide open, with the 8.5mm prime lens:

First shot with Q and amazon $5 fotodiox m42 adapter. Handheld through glass door and wearing trifocals SMC 135/3.5. I knew this lens would come in handy some day. I bought it new 42 years ago. I'll work on focus and tripod and see how the sharpness progresses.

My M42 ST 200 f4 works quite well on the Q but my favorite lens so far is the SMC-M135 f3.5, once you get used to your 135 you will love it

Only for the most recent adopters in the last few months. Before that, the situation was the other way around, when all the nearly all kits in US featured 01. I paid more for my used 02 zoom alone than what you can buy a ur-Q kit with 02 now ($197 on newegg yesterday). Of course new Q + 01 kits go for twice that now, but even that's a good deal.

Here are some animal snaps with the Q. I like the Q, it encourages experimentation and the large dof means you can mess around with silly angles and still get what you need in focus. plus it's just always there:

Thanks Hans. The m42 adapter and lens length/weight combination make for a reasonably balanced package that feels very comfortable in hand.

Cheers Stan, it was the 01 prime. It's the only one I'll ever use, until the wide angle prime comes out that is.
