Q with 50mm Russian Lens with 25mm toilet paper extension tube. Flash (extended arm out) is on.

This is the hackle on a fly (fly fishing). I really need to make a diffuser for my flash. Maybe I'll use some toilet paper.
NIce image, here is my solution to the diffuser dilemma, works reasonable good, whole bunch better than nothing.

Take care,

Heinrich, I like your solution...inexpensive and looks effective. I need to figure something out similar to what you have.

Some fun with the Prime 01 Lens

Not edited other than a little bit of cropping.

Some of the first attempts at using a 30+ year old Vivitar 250mm 4.5 telephoto with no diaphragm and the fotodiox m42 adapter. Lots of issues but a start.

The older lenses are fun because the focus is so much nicer than the newer lenses, but the Q really is hard on the lack of coatings and other modern conveniences.

I know you said no diaphragm but is there a way to stop it down a little bit at all?

And, your starlings have been into the grape juice

Full Scuppernong grape indeed Larry! Back to the lab and some flat black or black athletic tape for the adapter as a start?

Usually the internal reflections of the adapters that I have experienced will show up as smoke or haze in the shot.
I don't see that in your shots with this lens, so not sure it will help much.

The purple fringe is usually a result of older lens design and lack of coatings, so stopping down helps a little bit.
Sometimes all you can do is try to remove it in post.

That's with the 01 prime, and not enough light to see the darker parts at all before taking the shot. I've also been enjoying my Fujian 35mm a bit. Surprisingly good with straght on flare (but sometimes gets very strange flare from out of frame lights).

And another night shot, because night is the norm around here.

Firebird, Bechtler Museum Charlotte, NC and some ceiling "art" at my brother's restaurant. Interestingly, while it's ok to shoot the art, security warns you if you turn 90 degrees to take in any of the surrounding buildings. Primarily banks. Must be Qenvy.
