I always wonder if a 55mm macro will do better to give more DOF and less camera shake, but those Vivitar 55/2.8 macro always seem to elude me in BnS.

These guys are my favorite macro subjects, and I can't wait until they start coming out around here now that I finally have the Pentax OEM K2Q adapter so I can shoot outdoors handheld with flash. The Q will be an awesome tool for this since it gives me a choice of shooting at the same apparent magnification as my DSLR (subject size in relation to image frame) with greater DOF from the longer working distance or what appears to be a 3.8x magnification boost from the crop factor with the same DOF.

Yes, spiders are just fascinating with their multiple eyes and curious reactions (esp. jumping spiders).
Thanks for the info on the 3.8x magnification too, I always thought it was a straight 5.5x due to crop factor
