Why I love the quick dial so much.

Bleach bypass/hi contrast filter. Radiant (tweaked) /hi contrast filter.

Awesome shots Larry! I love the second one with the spider and the "anonymous victim".

Thanks Dave. Spider was packing his lunch 'to go'

I too really love the second spider shot, a great capture!

I took my Q out to the Verdon Gorges in Southern France with my K100d, it was solidly grey, miserable day but very bright. I found the conditions tough but have some pictures I am a pleased with from the Q.

The next morning I took this shot out of our bedroom window using the Bold Monochrome setting, It was the opposite of the previous day, incredibly bright.

Nice captures Larry, I can see I need to try some Macro stuff, I assume you used a tripod

They turned out great, sometimes a gray sky is just what is needed.

Really like the last two. I've wondered about those hazy days - will a polarizer filter help get rid of some of the haze?

Tripod and natural light on the caterpillar, hand held with flash on the spider.

Thanks, I really love the Bold Monochrome setting, especially for relatively simple compositions, I would like to know the formula for it as I have taken some photos, then looked back and thought, damn I wish I shot that in BM, I can't quite seem to recreate it myself in PP. This is about an hour and half inland from where I live, which is Nice, and it is almost constantly Hazy here, one side of Nice bay to the other is probably about 4 km and after 10 months I have yet to see a day clear all the way across the bay and most days halfway across the bay is Hazy, any Hazy shooting tips welcome here please! I will have to look into a polarizer for the little Q lenses and dig one out for the K100D to try too.

Thanks so much, It's a beautiful part of the world, nice to escape the city for a bit, The Gorges really are a terrific sight, many of my photos suffered the typical Mountain shot problem of looking too flat and not majestic enough, but hey, it's part of the learning process right?! The Q held up really well, I'm still finding my way around it so hopefully by the time my next trip there rolls around I'll be handling it a little better.
