Thanks! This photo really got me wondering about reflections and DOF and not being satisfied with some google search results I opened a Thread asking about DOF on reflective surfaces.

I love PF, and thanks to other members input, I learned a handy rule that on a convex mirror, you can capture the whole reflected image with a DOF no larger than 1/4 diameter of the mirror so in a sense when you take photo of smaller convex mirror the required DOF for reflection scales down

Something like that anyway haha

Thanks mate.

Generally I try to process as quickly as possible in Lightroom. I almost always bump clarity a bit, more than usual in this case. Bumped contrast LOTS for this because it was very low shooting through the helicopter windscreen. Think I also dropped the blacks down a fair bit on this too, for some more contrast

That was it, I am a software developer, so sitting in front of a PC for even more of my day doing processing is not my idea of fun

Thanks for the reply. Best Q developing I've seen. Water is getting so low behind Hoover Dam that the inability to generate electricity may not be far off. I have to guess that was a helicopter tour ride out of Las Vegas. It's a very informative and clear shot under the circumstances.

Pine needle is moving because the moving water creates a micro-wind. Interesting shot.

It was taken in September 2012, we did a tour with Maverick from Vegas out to the Grand Canyon, then back over the strip at sunset. Expensive but well worth it. Can recommend them if anyone else is tossing up who to go with
