Thanks for that: I was generally shooting 15mm (about 84mm FOV equiv) full open. I'll try some more wide shots one stop down and some 7-9mm @ f4.
I also should try my lenses with my Nikon adapter a bit more, somehow in my 11-16mm test the Vibration Reduction was disabled and it seems my shutter speed was unacceptably low for that situation. I'm convinced it is just a matter of getting used to the strong points of the Q and how to use the lenses on it and when do options get disactivated.

I did read in the article above: Remember that f/4 is already equivalent to f/22 on a full format DSLR!
1) f4 is a ratio of the focal length of the lens to its diameter, your sensor size never changes this, that is why I find the above very confusing.
2) since a crop sensor, croppes the image you have a different effect of DOF, I guess that is what is meant with the sentence above?

Thanks. It's called being in the right place at the right time, AKA lucky shot. I was in awe too, of the show being put on by messgrs' sunlight, cloud, and contrail, Then I heard the geese approaching ...

right place right time is a given fact. But you still need a camera, quick senses and the know how.

Those sky images are surreal - the first is almost disorienting! The geese shot is a winner, that's got so much going on.

IIRC it corresponds precisely with the crop factor. A crop decreases the FOV( "equivalent" FL increase, without DOF loss of actual FL increase)

it's the same DOF AND FL, but FOV is cropped. so you get the crop factor increase in equivalent DOF(5 stops past F4 = F22 right?)

Because your DOF is based on actual FL not equivelent FL. IMO a better anology would be think of DOF different between a 10mm and a 55mm lens! Shooting a 10mm lens on the Q would you you 55mm equivalent but you'd have the HUGE DOF of a 10mm lens.

That is the way I understand it, hope that helps. Now I wanna put my 8mm on the Q

Insomnia is raging strong. So, let's post some Q shots.

First up is another shot of my Nevada dumping ground exploration. It's very sad to be pouncing around and through the dry desert brush and find all this metal liter.

Post processing steps included sharpening, contrasting, B&W'ing, and polarizing the sky. All in Aperture.

Next up is an attempt to capture a reflection in the water. This was technically challenging for me. The focus point for the water is different than the focus point for the reflection! Maybe I was focusing through the water on accident? There's hardly any post processing here except for sharpening, contrasting, and cropping. All in Aperture again.

Last up is an abandoned brick building... abandoned by humans, that is. The birds never left! Sharpening, contrasting, color monochroming,and cropping. Aperture as usual for me.

Looking at this thread makes me want to go out and start shooting again! No! No! I have to sleep!
