All these fantastic photos are making me think of getting a Q7 this year instead of saving up for an FA31 Limited. Great job guys! Please keep posting!

Get both. Sandy Hancock has shown that the two are a great combo.

Q with Fiodiox PK - P/Q adapter

My latest purchase: Slightly used Q from Forum member and two Fotodiox adapters Canon FD-P/Q and Pentax PK-P/Q adapter, bought directly from the polite people at Fotodiox. My original content was to try put some great old Canon FD glass (FD 55mm f 1.2, FL 5mm f 1.2, etc.), but not really quite realizing that these great old normal lenses would become more like 300 mm primes! I need to do lots more work before getting good images, but I thought I would post one image from one of the most interesting Pentax lens, the DA 10-17 Fisheye. This does not have A ring, so you have to set aperture on a regular Pentax DSLR, then move the lens to the Q. When you do this, the Q's Av mode seems to work well in providing good exposure.

My biggest problem so far is manual focus on the Q. The photo I am posting is with the 10-17 at full 10 mm fisheye, and is the nearest I have come to a good focus. I wish the Q had catch in focus!

I would appreciate any suggestions on focussing, or any other techniques for FD or PK adapter photography with the Q.

Looks very good, first shot especially where you nailed the focus.

Nice! This makes me think I may have some luck using my SMC M 200mm f4. What adapter are you using?

Setting the aperture on a Pentax DSLR does nothing, the lens remains fully open until the moment when the shot is take on a DSLR (which is why the brightness of the viewfinder doesn't change as you adjust f-stop). So moving the lens to the Q with a K->Q adapter that lacks aperture adjustment just means you're attaching a lens fully open to the Q.

Yep, definitely the case

You need a Q > K adapter with the aperture control if you want to stop down a K mount without an aperture ring, of course the official adapter has it, but some 3rd parties do as well.

I am using the Pentax OEM adapter, the M 200 f4 should work great, stop it down to f5.6 - f8 if you use an adapter without a shutter a tripod is a must, the adapter with shutter helps when hand holding even when shooting fast shutter speeds, check out your lens in the adapted lens thread
