Let's share shots with Q!

Oh damn, I was thinking about purchasing a 135mm to carry around the streets with, but I see now that I'm probably better off with 35 fujian or 50mm whatever. Can I assume 200-300mm is acceptable for handholding, or is this too much as well?

I think Hans can handhold a 200mm native - but he's superhuman with the Q. Best I can do is 105 and that took several weeks to learn.

You'd be better off getting the 06 zoom; it is compact, exceptionally good optically, it handles well and you keep autofocus.
I have taken hand held shots with my DA*300 on the Q, but it is *very* difficult.

Got out of the house since it is finally over 40 degrees here to grab a glimpse of the new bridge over the Mississippi River at St. Louis. It has been open one month today. Unfortunately the approaches on both sides of the river are in heavy industrial areas and we couldn't really find a suitable spot to shoot. We were also shadowed at a distance by a St. Louis Police cruiser - whether to protect the white people from the suburbs or to ensure we were up to no mischief was unclear - so this is the best I could do.

Next time I will plan better and study maps to find a suitable approach and some good angles. I don't really feel too bad about the angles since there haven't been any good ground photos in newspapers either - just aerial shots. Maybe they can't be had.

At any rate, Q7 + Q/06 on a clear bright sunny afternoon. No ND filter (electronic or glass) - and almost no vision on the LCD. It was just a hurried guess. Interesting faults throughout this image.

I wonder what the bokeh is like on the 06. That would be the cheapest 70-200mm f2.8 lens ever if anyone decided to use it for portraits, lol.

I have the 06 and with the small sensor on the Q & Q7 the depth of field is quite large so you will not get the blurred background you are looking for on portraits with the 06 or any other portrait lens on a any small sensor camera.

Ah, I thought perhaps the 250mm focal length along with the fast aperture might help. Are you saying that I'm unlikely to get good background blur even on a 135mm (756mm equivalent) f2.5? I have to get something at that length.

You sure about that? Sure, it won't put the FA77 out of business but it is quite a capable portrait lens with decent bokeh.
