"Birds" in flight...

Last weekend I went to an airshow and decided to shoot it lightweight this year. Normally, I would go with a D700 a 500mm F4P lens that I would shoot handheld. I was going to shoot with the Q and a Nikon 80-200 F2.8D but ended up going for even less weight by using a plastic Nikon 80-200 F/4-5.6 lens. Using a well dialed in red dot sight I just put the lens on infinity and turned off the rear LCD to just use the sight.

And just to keep things more interesting I was on a boat....

Here is the airfield shot using an iPhone 4s to give a sense of magnification.

Same thing but from the Q with the Nikon at 200mm. This is the full image, not a crop.

With the prop planes the non-global electronic shutter ended up resulting is some odd distortions. I couldn't shoot with slower shutter speeds (to blur the props completely) as I would get overall blurring due to the motions of the boat and the effective 1000mm FOV.

Most shot around RAW ISO 800 and F5.6 or F8 on the Nikon.

Of course the quality wasn't to the same level as if I had used my big rig but this fit into a tiny Domke F5XB bag!

Nice technique, worked very well. Love the bendy propellers!

Thanks. Here are some really bendy props...

The red dot sight also worked well at my son's T ball game. This is with a Nikon 85mm f1.4d.

Got my Q7 a couple a few weeks ago after deciding I didn't want to lug my K-5 around on holiday with the kids. I love the way the camera handles, even if it is a little fiddly sometimes and I'm super impressed with some of the results. Here's a few early shots, all with the 02 standard zoom....

Hello all,
New to Q10 and new to the forum, I got my hands on the q10 supplied with the 02 standard zoom lens about a week ago and reading through this thread it looks like the 01 prime is a must buy.

here's a few hand held shots around Edinburgh taken at the weekend and PP in lightroom 4

Cheers paulcote,
post processing.
I mainly follow the Anthony Morganti lightroom tutorials on youtube but wasn't sure if these were overdone.

I like the Edinburgh shots, was visiting there last October (am from the lake district) .
The shots look a little HDR'd but look good, I like the one of Princess street from the castle, have almost the same one!
