Mounting the gorilla pod on the fence posts in the park was more of a challenge than I expected. Mostly because other people were banging into the fence or walking heavily on the decking which caused some shaking. But overall, the Q7 was ideal for the purpose. It was still pretty bright out so I used the built in ND filter combined with an ND4 filter for the waterfall shots.

Do you prefer the ND4 to a polarizer?

Used my original Q + 06 to get some family pics at my great-niece's 1st birthday party. Took a JPEG from the camera, tweaked the levels a bit in GIMP, and this emerged:

Election time in NZ and the Pollies are coming to town

Q SMC 110/50mm @f4 iso 1250
I like the bold mono, got it on the quick dial
The 50 gives great reach for events like this

Denny,

I haven't used a polarizer often so I can't really compare. My understanding is that a polarizer helps with reflections while limiting some light...but ND filters are better for restricting the amount of light coming into lens.

This was my first time using this filter that I have had for several years. I went to open the case and it was still factory-sealed. That's when I realized, "I really need to use the gear I buy more often!"

Mirfak star inside Perseus

A closeup inside the constellation Perseus. The bright white star in the upper left is Mirfak, in the star cluster Alpha Persei. Mirfak is the 34th brightest star in the entire sky. It has a diameter 62 times that of the sun.
