I knew that first picture looked familiar even before scrolling all the way down. I walk through there every day!

Great pictures!

Q with the 07 Mount Shield on a ride in the San Gabriels.

SOOC with the Mount Shield. I accidentally set it to B&W. A happy accident I think. Could us a bit more contrast, yes? Also, as I've indicated elsewhere, I have never been a fan of fake grain but when I see a shot like this it feels like the right thing to do.

No witnesses? No obvious signs of trauma? Hair strands? Textile fibers? Where's Abby?!?!

Happy accident indeed and an evocative dreamscape.

hi,

here are some b&w from Q and 02 std.

not the best lens, but still pretty polyvalent.

I really like your shots. Can you share some info about the first one. What metering mode were you using and what were you metering for? In other words what decided your exposure?
What aperture and shutter speed and ISO?
Are these JPG or RAW. If RAW what sort of adjustments were made?
I like the contrast. How was that achieved?

Hi, thanx for your interest.

i used centered averaged metering, since the light was pretty harsh outside,
i took the exposure of the railroad, lower part, kept the metering then composed the whole picture.
I'm using mostly Aperture priority,

exifs are on the picture on flickr.
f3.5
5mm
1/125@125 isos.

the original is in jpeg (even if i'm using raw most of the time, sometimes i switch to jpeg, like that time, when i forgot to clear the sd card) , color,

then develloped through lightroom;

I like contrasted black and whites since film era, so i created some presets to suit my needs.
Indeed i tend to work against that tendency that i have to pump contrast way too much.

These shots were mostly some testing of a recently acquired 02 Std, as the Q is like a photographic notepad to me, indeed a lot of shots i made with have a render that i wont get on my K5.

I took a couple of "long" exposure street shots with my new P. Angenieux Paris F.8-64mm 1:1.9 Angenieux-zoom Type 8x8B on Pentax Q with a C-mount adapter.

Here's the lens:

Got my Q this Monday so I've a lot to learn about it but here are a few so far.
All taken with a 560mm scope out my back door.

Those are very good. Makes one wonder just how much APS-C is really needed, let alone full frame.

My problem isn't sensor size it's trying to get a camera the size of a pack of cigarettes with no viewfinder to focus quickly and reliably on fast moving birds on the backend of 560mm of glass at 70x mag with virtually zero DOF.

Ergonomically it's an exercise in frustration - small cramped flush recessed controls with no tactile feed back.
But I will soldier on and see what I can make of it.

After all it's just the usual hassles of getting familiar with new gear.
