Sometimes you walk into a place and you get this vibe from the windows and the walls and the floors and the stuff inside. You walk slowly through room by room just feeling the place, getting a sense of the volumes and the layout and the stories the walls would tell. And you look around and you think to yourself, "yeah, black and white will work here nicely."
Ooh, chambers stove! Love those. Want one badly.
Did you turn it on? The burners are daisies instead of a big sunflower like most gas stoves.. heats the pan much more evenly. The oven is so efficient that for most meals you just preheat it, put your stuff in, and turn off the gas.

Unfortunately I didn't turn it on. I was (irrationally) afraid of it, worried that the whole apartment would explode if I did something wrong!

a little reflection on q

Just some casual shooting with my Q7.

First one is a morning sunrise waiting for my (belated) train on a train stration. Being dutch I immediately spun the quick dial for some extra orange. The second one is a lucky bounce of a kitchen window in the wonderful region of Zeeland.

We took a trip this past weekend to the Grand Canyon which is only about 225 miles for us. I decided to take one of the Q7's along to keep the K-5 company. While we have made numerous trips to the Grand Canyon the purpose of this trip was to focus on some of the buildings and scenic elements around the South Rim of the Canyon.
First B&W was some wood textures. A crafter wooden bench and a portion of a discarded tree limb.

Second B&W shot is the smoke box cover front of Grand Canyon steam locomotive #29.

Third is an interior shot of the Kolb brothers studio. The Kolb brothers were early settlers in the Grand Canyon and they ran this photo studio. I was disappointed to see paints display in the gallery instead of photographs. The paintings were not very good and they had very inflated prices.

Finally is our mode of transportation for this trip. The ever reliable 6 cylinder Honda Valkyrie Interstate.

Always difficult to keep noise down with handheld inside shots when it's dark.
