Hi Paul
I'm using a fotodiox adapter PK/Q, the one allowing changing aperture.

pkq

OK thanks, I just ordered one off Amazon for thirty bucks. I have a Pentax DSLR with some primes and zooms so maybe I can use them on my Q's. I have two Q's and just ordered an S1 used off of ebay so am thinking maybe it will work with my pentax lenses, but they are the newer lenses. i don't know what a K lens is.

A low light shot deep in the brush - this is really pushing that dinky sensor.

I liked your presentation of the shakers. I see you shot that at f2.8 with an ISO setting of 3200. What can you tell us about the Program mode you used which states Creative Program (based towards depth of field). Does that mode increase or decrease depth of field.

Hi. Sorry I don't know the answer to that.

Another One Bits the dust

The Pinnacle Peak Patio in Scottsdale Arizona will be closing at the end of June. The Q7 and I paid a visit.

We heard a few bands on this outdoor stage. Many 32 oz steaks were served to out of town visitors as well as many locals on this patio and if you were wearing a neck tie the owner would cut it off. It became a sort of tradition and there are many pieces of lost neck ties hanging from the rafters inside.

Greasewood Flats now just a memory

Last month we lost a historic place here in Scottsdale Arizona. Greasewood Flats became a victim of urban sprawl. Here are a few record shots I took before the scavengers started dismantling the place.

This was the entrance off the highway leading to Greasewood Flats. You traveled about a quarter mile down a rather steep dirt road to the parking lots and actual entrance.

Sitting on my four cylinder Honda Magna near the entrance to Greasewood Flats. Note the pouch on my belt. This carries my Q7 with lens, an additional lens, rubber lens hood, several extra batteries, spare SD cards and several different 40.5mm screw on filters. This "kit" is easier to carry on such motorcycle or bicycle trips and unlike my K-5's does not take up any space in my saddle bags.

Some folks arrived by car, truck or motorcycle and others arrived by horse back. This was the "parking lot" for those who arrived by horse.

On any weekend visitors mingled with locals which produced an eclectic crowd.

Over the years Greasewood Flats accumulated an interesting collection of historic relics. Note the Quad 50mm anti air craft guns (yes they are real). Could this be the reason Greasewood Flats was never successfully attacked from the air?

Just in case you had any doubts about what Greasewood Flats was, this sign summed it up quite succinctly.
