What else does one do on New Year's Day other than go inside the Basilica San Marco?

And finally, a photo and a crop to show off what a bloody good combination the Q-S1 and the 06 lens are, even in my clumsy paws.

Two macro shots with Q7, SMC PENTAX MACRO 1:4 50mm and PENTAX K-Q adapter. I already wrote this in the adapted lens thread, but I'm happy with the color this lens gives.
And I have to say that I'm really happy with the genuine K-Q adapter, too. For a long time I only used third party adapters, but the genuine one is much higher quality, black paint is really black (no need to paint anything), mechanical connection is solid, and of course 1/1000 to 30 seconds shutter speed. Even with flash.

The first one is a small weed flower in the sunset.

Next one is a green moth on a dark blue door.

Q is fun for family outings. Plain/first Q at ISO 200 with Kern-Paillard Yvar 13/1.9 wide open.

I'm never going to be able to afford an FA* 600mm, so this is what I plan to use for extreme telephoto work, especially from the car window.

In good light, stopped down 2 stops, the result is well worth the modest outlay. CA, contrast, black level and saturation need to be looked at in PP.

There is some wind blur in this test shot, which makes it difficult to be sure, but I think the option of using the A135 alone and cropping might turn out to be sharper still.
This is a centre crop from the A135/2.8 on its own. I think that confirms prime + crop is the way to go:

True, because, anyway, we don't have many choices for wide angle in the Pentax Q system.
The 02 is very good at the wide end, and so-so at the tele end (my sample)
So, I use it essentially as a prime @ 5mm / 24mm FF.
If it isn't wide enough, I just stitch a panorama.
Be aware however that sometimes it's difficult to stitch the images made @ 5mm (my panorama exposures are made Q&D, I mean obviously too Q&D) and then I've to juggle with several software.

Even used, the 08 is too expensive for a dead system IMHO.
Difficult to find something wide enough in C-mount either.

I agree with both of you. It's not a sharp-wide-open-corner-to-corner kind of lens, but it's still a good useful lens which produces nice results.

Another good thing about the 02 is that you can get closer than 01, 06 or 08.

kwb, sorry if this has been discussed before, but your stitches with the 02 lens are always gorgeous. Which focal length do you usually use and what software do you usually use to stitch? I notice these cameras have an in-camera panorama function but I'm not sure if that just guides the shots or does any stitching- do you use that at all? I'm used to just using the grid lines on screen but haven't done any stitching with the Q yet, and you've clearly got it mastered.

Oh, thank you er1kksen for kind words!! But the truth is that it's Lightroom programmers who got it right as far as the stitching goes, not me.
I didn't think that my Q7 can do in-camera panorama but I could be wrong.

As for the focal length it could be all over the place as it's mostly dictated by how tall I'd like the image to be (i.e. the vertical angle of view), but it seems like I have more pano shots with 5mm than 15mm. I just take multiple shots paying attention to the grid line on screen (I often try to keep the horizon aligned with the bottom 1/3 line) as well as electronic levels. I think I try to keep at least 60% overlap between shots (maybe more). Then I feed them to Lightroom, select "merge" or some such and then "panorama" and voila! Then PP.

Hope this helps!

An obliging heron stood stock-still and let me get this shot from nearly 100m away. Q7, Tokina 400mm SD AT-X at f/11 on genuine K/Q adapter.

Kitchen sink PP: fringe reduction, CA, contrast/black level, saturation, sharpness, etc., etc., but only cropped for portrait.
