Hello! This is my first time posting in this thread, but I picked up my Q-S1 at the beginning of the year with the 07. For whatever reason, it really resonated with me, and even though I got the 01 and the 03 shortly after, the 07 rarely left my camera. Something about its unique character and simplified operation made it feel special. Here are a handful of shots with it!

Here's a few lessons from earlier today:

Repainting the inner barrel of my Tokina 400mm SD AT-X should have been done when I first bought it. The improvement in contrast is noticeable.

I should have upgraded my tripod years ago. Carbon fibre is far better at absorbing vibration than aluminium.

You can never have enough batteries. The screen needs to stay on throughout as you go through the focus/stop down cycle, or the egret will wander out of the DOF...

Super photo Shedking. Not an easy bird to photograph. Especially with manual focus.

Are you saying the Tokina was taken apart to be painted?
Thanks

Yes. The rear focusing group has to come out, as it is the main offender in this IF lens. I think there are similar threads here concerning problems with a milky blue cast when using third-party adapters. It seems to be the same type of problem.

FYI, my post #5624 was before painting. The Tokina's original internal finish is grey by comparison to Pentax. Two coats of blackboard paint make a genuine difference, to my eyes at least. If I were doing it again, I'd use a specialist astronomy black.

Gujan-Mestras : Q7 + 02

Ok : Heavy pp here.
This is the short story behind this picture :
I was able to download my SD card between 2 trips, but not to process the photos.
But, as I use Google Photo, I’ve received on my smartphone the panorama stitched automatically.
Nice stitch technically. Although, the scenery was still vivid in my memory, and the result on the "flat" side (Photographer’s responsibility).
As you know, eyes + brain are HDR, camera's sensor isn’t. (An HDR setting is available in the Q but that's another story).
So, as I was unsatisfied, I’ve decided to add some "pop" via Snapseed (another great app, now Google's one).
There was there an HDR editing untried, and this was a good opportunity to test it.
Snapseed offers a large bunch of HDR tuning, even with (1) jpeg. The screen is small though
I’m not a big fan of HDR, but I liked the painterly result, in the blue hour mood.
(
No more realistic stuff...)

I've been really appreciating the Q system's light weight and compactness while exploring deep gorges in western NY state (both Zoar Valley and Chautauqua Creek Gorge seen here) looking for superlative trees to measure. I definitely need to get the 08 lens soon... the 02 zoom is a useful range and optically solid but the long zoom is what's really impressing me, being f2.8 all the way and still so small! The 01 prime is definitely nice as well.

Wow Abbazz! The Speed Booster quality looks superb wide open. Didn't expect it to look this good. Does it fall off in color?

Surprised the adapter was available and obtainable this quickly. Can't wait to see more results and to get your thoughts on it. You should write a review for Pentax Forums. A little extra Q exposure never hurts.
Thanks,
barondla
