Tara and I went down to the low barrier homeless shelter last night, the night when Dr. G, a veterinarian, volunteers to care for the pets of the homeless. Routine vaccinations and medicinal care is provided at no cost to the pet owner. My Dog Eats First funds the program through donations. Tara did a Facebook LIVE cast interview of the volunteers and some guests for her 10,000 social media followers. This low barrier homeless shelter permits people with pets to stay there temporarily.

It’s an environment where a DSLR might be too intrusive and “official” looking. So I brought the Q7 with the 01 Prime instead of my K-01 w/ the 21 Ltd or DA 35 2.4 I usually tote as my discrete camera. Somehow I had managed to fumble around and change a digital color filter to bold and the color photos didn’t look good. I converted to mono in post. Better.

I cannot remember the cat’s name but hearing Chris, the homeless gentleman, talking about his 7 year old dog Lucky while Dr G trimmed Luckys toe nails, was uplifting in an otherwise depressing environment. It’s sobering to realize how many are one serious illness, accident, unfortunate break or bad decision away from living in the street.
Quite touching, pictures really convey the story.

Pets are great companions, esp for those alone, or, in a bad place, mentally or physically.

Very nice!
Thank you Deesquared and cmohr. I’ve had my Q7 gear for just about a month. What I thought might be just a glorified snap shot camera or just for fun pocket shooter is, in the proper context, a viable tool for serious subject matter. I would have no reservations about submitting the pictures I took that evening for publication.

PS:I wouldn’t have discovered the Q series at all if not for this forum.

My best picture of my little nightly photo walk. It's a powerplant close to where I live.

Enjoy

Pentax Q + 02

Q + Gorillapod = Freedom

The reason I say that is because this picture would have been impossible with a conventional setup (DSLR + Tripod) simply because the angle of the shot was from a steep climb next to a railway line and placing a tripod would have been impossible without putting it on the actual rails.

There was a railing as a bridge started exactly there and I could fix the Gorillapod onto that railing.

Some Q7 and 06 lens shots

I posted this selfie to previous P&S Competition #131 - Triangle(s).

Next two are posted to the current P&S Competition #132 - something red.

And the last one is a short time lapse video of icicles growing. I took 1 shot per minute to have total of 240 shots (4 hours), made a time lapse with each picture just showing for 0.1 second. Click on the picture and you can watch the video on flickr (don't know how to directly show the video here).

How much do icicles grow in 4 hours? by k kwb, on Flickr

Your lens may not take that long. Ordered mine new from Japan on 1--

Can't wait to modify mine for infinity focus.
Looking for a workable lens cap now.
Enjoy your lens when it arrives.
Thanks,
barondla
Careful not to accidentally flip the lens over. A person contacted me about infinity focus not working for their 07, it was because they removed the element entirely and had inadvertently mixed up the lens orientation when reinserted into the body housing.

Seems to make a difference.

Rabbit, Q7, BORG 55FL (250mm telescope), ISO 400

Due to new layer of snow, rabbits can nibble rosehips and leaves that were too high before.

Hmm, weren't these rosehips too high? by k kwb, on Flickr

OMG I got it, I got it!!! by k kwb, on Flickr

I would have liked wider shots. BORG was a bit too long, I was shooting from inside the office through a glass window and couldn't back off any further, but 06 lens would have been too short. But I'm very happy that I got these.

Supermoon

We had only 2 hours of supermoon and the sight was so-so, as some clouds were passing. But I'm quite happy with image above made with Tamron SP Adaptall-2 23A (60 - 300) at 300 mm wide open (f 5.4). This was stacked in Registax from 3 images.

I have almost two years with my Q7 and every time I took a picture I love it more, there is something truly special about this camera that I have never feel before, it's so small and yet so powerful, the images coming from that little sensor are delightful and they make some kind of photographic addiction. I think this could be my favorite camera ever.

Love my Q7s.

I went to work today with a Q7 in each jacket pocket. An 06 on one and 08 on the other. I’m glad I discovered them by recently becoming active in this forum, Although I did have to move my New Year’s Resolution not to buy any new gear in 2019 to start on Chinese New Year.
