Thank you. I really enjoy walking around with the 01-02-06 combination, it's just pure, carefree fun. Some more shots from today:

You have the eye for it. The camera is secondary. Great stuff. I loved the pic of the Hosta.

Intrigued by John's Saturn, I've been trying this for some time and this is what I got so far.

Shot with Q7 and my 480mm f/6 telescope with a 2x Barlow (teleconverter), ISO 1600 1/13 sec, stacking many pictures. Also attached is an example of a single image (mirrored vertically). I think two main limitations here are the weather and my focus accuracy.

OK, I'll admit to being not quite as bright as the average bear. What is the focus problem? Set to infinity and shoot is not how it works?

Wow, that’s fantastic! Amazed at the level of noise reduction. How many photos are stacked for this result?

Hi Boojum, telescopes don't have infinity stops. Even if you're using camera lenses, if they're AF lenses they'll likely focus beyond infinity to make sure that AF to infinity works despite manufacturing tolerances and temperature variations at different places/time.

Looking at my log, I took 534 shots in burst mode triggered by IR remote, but half of that was discarded (i.e. I let AutoStakkert 3 to generate four different stacks using best 80%, 50%, 25% and 10% of all frames based on whatever quality assessment the program makes, reviewed the results and took 50% one).

OK, thank you for that. I have just tried with a Tamron mirror telephoto on a full frame but not yet on the Q-S1. And as the jump in magnification on the Q-S1 is crop factor I am not really too interested in trying it. Maybe just as an exercise but not for any continued serious work.

Yesterday the moon was really red behind clouds and hazy air.

Mars was very close to the moon. Q7 and BORG 55FL. Seeing (turbulence) was bad, I took a bunch of pictures (turned out I shot 78) and manually selected the one where Mars looks reasonably round.

Oh, that's Q7, BORG 55FL and Pentax 1.7x AF adapter (though of course AF doesn't work on Q7). This setup gives me 425mm f/7.7.
