Taken with the Q7 and the 01 prime lens - and the in-camera 'Bold monochrome' setting - of a cool mural, in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Getting back to optimizing the gear for macro.

I got hold of the K-Q adapter because of the flash sync speed, but did not get to thinking about how to get it done properly.
The built in flash is too weak for macro after a diffuser.
A 'dummy' optical trigger on an external flash will pre-fire due to pttl pre-flash.

The solution for now is my YN560IV in S2 mode.
Can't get 1/2000 sync speed, but 1/1000 is plenty.

Do you get those shots with K-Q Adapter and extension tubes? The only Macro I’ve done is with D Mount cine lenses and unscrewing them slowly to reduce my focusing distance.

No, its just the K-Q Adapter with the F100/2.8 macro.
Any other macro lens will do too. I sometimes use the Vivitar 55/2.8 macro instead.

You can use a 3rd party dummy K-Q adapter, but it will only flash sync at 1/15 or 1/8.
That is not an issue for night macro where 100% of the lighting is from the flash, but won't be good for daytime macros.

Not much of a catch this week.
The amount of fogging done here certainly decimates insect diversity.

I've got the light modifier done to what I am happy enough with, so its really down to the process of finding time to take more photos

Solar eQlipse

Pentax Q on 500 mm telescope (Newtonian) equipped with Baader foil. I had a plans to watch the eclipse only, but then simply connected the Q to my telescope for a few snapshots. Technically it's bad, but I like it anyway.

I like it too, being able to capture special occasions like that is truly great. (And I'm jealous to be honest, it wasn't observable where I live! )

Seriously marvellous pictures in this thread !
Now you cant have enough Luna !
Tycho...that must have been a heck of a hit...a thousand miles away and large parts of the landscape are still pelting past

6in Newtonian with the Q7, dew eventually won the night
bold monochrome then sustained assault in Faststone
