Single shot. Seems to be massively downsized, will attempt to replace it with a few more pixles

Single shot! Wow, I was thinking it had to be stacked. So what lens/scope and tracker combo you use?

It's just a 6 in Newtonian reflector on the Dobson mount.
That's 1200mm f/8. Not sure what the Q-7 crop factor is
No tracking needed at 1/125 sec

The in this informal family portrait, my 5-year-old grandson, who normally is a blur of motion, remained still - while his mother was moving at the exact moment the picture was taken. The resulting photograph - with one person in relative focus and the other not - surprised me, and was my favorite image from a small series.

How do you catch the sunspots? My attempts looked like a clean ping pong ball.

I used "sun foil" for visual observation (special Baader sun foil) glued to some step down ring as a filter, This was my first time with Q and the sun, but it seems that ISO around 160, 1/800 s and f11 should be OK.

Thanks I had used some solar film, but my shutter speed was not as fast as yours.
Nice to see the detail of the textures you captured for the sun surface.

Somehow it seems to me as if the boy just stopped time around him and looking at the camera mischievously. Interesting effect.

Q7 w/ 70-300 mm Sigma on a Q Adapter for K mount

Wow, Nice Photos of Jupiter and the Sun! Took these photos of the Moon and Mars back in 2014 with my Q7 with a 70-300mm Sigma lens on a Q Adapter for K mount. Aperture is set at 5.6 for both of these.

My tiny Mars on a 1000mm telescope and Q from my parent’s back garden last year. Only just now discovered that Venus should be much larger in the sky vs Mars, so will shoot for that in future.

When I took my Mars photo in 2014, I took it when the Moon was at it's closest point to earth. If I remember correctly, it was the closest Mars had been in the past decade. I also got lucky that it was a cloudless night in my backyard.

I tried getting a shot using my Celestron Dobsian telescope but found that my photos through the eyepiece was a hit or miss and when I did get a hit, it was a little blurred as the telescope kept moving via the tracker motor. I had better luck with the K-mount Q adapter and my old 70-300 Sigma K-mount. I remember that I had to keep moving the rig due to Mars going out of frame from it's movement in the sky.

Just curious 2old4toys, what setup did you have on your telescope?
