Well, after seeing K9-K5's photos, I'm inspired to go out and do some shooting
Q with DA40 this time.
Seems like better combo than with DA35.

All photos in-camera JPEG with basic Aperture PP.

Thank you

There you go! Good work, keep it up. When you get a chance post your review of the lenses in the Reference thread Stan linked above.

Handheld.
I took over 50 photos, only 8 are acceptable

Yep, keep rate becomes easily Qeep rate. I know.

I was at Airport too. Handheld, forgot the monopod.

Stationary target was easier with tripod. Keep rate 50%. And that's because that Squirrel left when my timer beeped 12sec.

May I know what lens are you using for the aircrafts shots?

Thank you

Tamron 70-200 f2,8, Tokina 100mm f2,8 and Rikenon 50mm f2.

737 and 319 with Tamron, 717 with Tokina and 340 with Rikenon. Apertures were between 4-5,6.

Squirrel was Sigma @500mm f8.

It's probable that the better results are you getting better not only the DA40. I have gotten great results with my DA35, Nice images

You are working out that Q K9! Maybe try 2 sec timer and no beeps for squirrels?

My keeper rate (closer to 15% hand held) is focus and operator shake related. I like the airport shots, did you you use a hood eyepiece I find it really helps tracking moving subjects.

In time, in time...

Tamron had hood. Others not.
There's something mystic in that SR system. I'll have to learn it properly. @500mm and Q set to 500m, my images sometimes are twisted. Have to find proper settings.
And yes, it's my fault, the keep rate, not the cameras.

cross post from the astro-q thread:

The moon and jupiter are paired tonite and won't be this close again until 2026. So I went out and only managed 1 moon shot and 2 jupiter shots before my fingers were so numb i couldn't tell what buttons i was pressing. Once the fingers stopped burning i combined 2 of the images. here is the full and cropped image. Once again with the Tokina 400mm iso125, i/80th. The moon and jupiter will appear to almost be touching later but i'm not going out again

I tried to do the same now that the weather cleared up a bit but the moon and Jupiter were way too low.
Great pic!
