Have you ever had a discussion wherein you could have said something such as, "So explain to me how those lenses differ from having 11 editions of 'Leaves of Grass'," but you didn't because you knew the hole was already deep enough?

In the back of my mind there is the idea that I should have only the three FA Limiteds. That would require some "cold, dead fingers" selling first, though.
I'm in a similar position now where if I buy something, I have to sell something. Over the years I've been working very hard to obtain my ultimate set of lenses (ultimate for me anyway) and was successful in that endeavor. Unfortunately, that discretionary income that I used in the past is gone now. It makes any buying decision ever so difficult now........

Rarely do I have a problem with birds filling the viewfinder...not so with the Q.

Blue jay was maybe 40 feet away, the hairy woodpecker closer to 60-70 (mild crop to vertical).

Nice shots! I just picked up an M 135/3.5 specifically for use on the Q. Makes a great super-tele for the Q, doesn't it?

Very nice action shots!
Pretty darn sharp too.

The M 135/3.5 has also become a favorite of mine, not sure I'm ready for that kind of movement though.
And I need to get my adapter painted.

Thanks Guys I only got about 2 shots per race so maybe a total of 20 shots so the keeper rate wasn't bad.

I found that I had to pre-focus on a spot on the track and hold the camera in place and shot when the dogs got to that point holding the camera steady.

One thing for sure you can't pan with the shutterless adapter at any shutter speed, jello like you would not believe, too bad I blew them away it would have been fun to show.

Thanks Larry, BIF are a long ways off for me maybe never, I have been trying but I believe it will be only luck that gets a shot. The dog track was on the approach path of an airport so between races I watched the sky, Got some results almost BIF. All shot with the SMC-M 135, cropped and sharpened, no lcd hood as I wanted a small pkg but it would have helped steady the camera.

Thanks, yes the 135 makes a small pkg. and easy to carry and shoot. Some PF'g but that can be removed. I am still looking for a faster and better 135 the focal length is great on the Q. Based on the ratings the several old 135's are sharper but who knows how they will work on the Q

Let me know if you want a package deal on a Canon FD 135mm f/2 with a painted FD-Q adapter... sharp wide open, but I find it either too short or too long for what I'm shooting. So far, I just prefer either 85mm or 300mm, but that might be my technique...
