Tonight's Supermoon provided another opportunity for a comparison of the Q ompared to the K-5 IIs.
To my eyes, the baby sensor of the Q is an improvement on a simple crop from the K-5 IIs. You need to look at them big to appreciate the difference.
Both single images. No stacking or other jiggery pokery. Same sharpening applied to both images. Q adaptor on +1, so f/5.6.

But you cheated and used the flash on the Q!

In all seriousness, somethings wrong with that K-5 shot (focus?) as I got better with my Kx.

But I was using a 300mm lens. The shot was sharp, but the savage crop left me with too few pixels.

So you rescaled the K-5 shot up to match the size of the Q shot? That's probably not the fairest way to go. Try down-scaling the Q shot to match the K-5.

I really want a 300/f4.

I thought it was about what the Q can achieve, not how badly software up-scales.

I admit to being amazed with the Q's image quality given it's sensor size.

Anyhow, I tried the Bigma on the Q but my MF skills let me down, I just never seem to get it right even with focus peaking (I wish I could pick the highlight colour, red green or blue would be so much better against the moon).

Then I went to try the Q on an ENNA 400mm but my PK/Q adapter doesn't work with my (genuine) M42/PK adapter

I hope the weather holds for you tonight, It's clouding over here now.

I haven't been shooting to much while getting to know my K30 but here are a few from my white Q and the SMC M 135 f3.5 I have been playing with a trial version of Piccure motion reduction plugin for PSE, I am quite impressed but still up in the air on the $50 cost, what do your guys think.

Hans the shots look really good - can you show us the unedited versions?
On pic 2 there are some artifacts on the right side or is someone trying to dart your friend?

Thanks Larry, I didn't keep the orig. but here is a crop of a different one the first no PP, 2nd PSE sharpening, 3rd Piccure for motion reduction and sharpening. Looks like a nice tool and easy to use but only works for slight camera movement. The kind we see with the Q knowing we have to watch everything and it may also fix the SR over correction errors.

My first attempt (very amateur) at shooting the moon. I used a cheapo M42 Formula IV 500mm zoom on a loose tripod.
Just a JPEG straight out of the camera, no cropping. Lots of room for improvement, but I am not sure I am going to get much from this lens anyway...

This may be on e of my first hand held shots using the DA*300.
This hawk landed on a telephone pole near my back yard and I knew I wouldn't have time to set up the tripod.
I quickly assembled the DA*300 on the Q and put the LCD loupe to help me get the shot.
The sky is an ugly grey and the bird was back lit but I was pleased that I was able to get the shot without a tripod.
I tried some PP in 'new to me' Topaz detail and denoise along with cropping and contrast in LR4.
