Well, given that this is a Q thread I don't want to spam it with K-x shots but maybe one more.

This is a 100% crop of the above shot cropped to the same size and showing approximately the same area as the previous Q shot:

Since the Q would have 3.7 times the pixels than this shot I would hope for even better.

Well, you get softer results with the Q

I would expect the Q to have some noise/crosstalk problems because the sensor elements are packed so close to each other.

Me too, but but the sensor is a generation or two newer.

Might have had a chance this morning if I could have been bothered to get up a 3:30am. Nah! Stuff that!

So are you thinking that the difference might be a result of the clouds you reported?

Without doubt the clouds contributed. Any moisture in the air visible or not will affect moon shots.

The same with moving air and different temperatures, specs of dust etc.

It is very difficult to compare different cameras in astrophotography. The atmosphere is constantly churning. You can take 10 shots with the same camera, changing nothing, and there will be varying degrees of sharpness in the photos. Some of the best planet photos are taken with a webcam shooting thousands of frames. Software tosses the unsharp frames and merges the rest into a great astrophoto. This also kills the noise.

Nice images alfa75ts. Makes me want to give it a go.
thanks

SMC Takumar 300/4

Shot wide open, 6 images stacked in Registax. Shot in the middle of the city, so better results are possible.

Well, I'm in the middle of the suburbs but your shot gives me hope with the Q.

If and when the "Planets align". (clear night, light winds, moon is full or near full, moon is in the right sector of the sky while I'm still awake etc etc etc............ )

Piotrek K, great capture. Multiple frames really knock the noise. Love it.

Thanks for all the kind words! I have to work on some series made during the summer - hopefully the result will be little better.

Good work! I have thought that stacking photos would yield best results, alas the birds I try to shoot won't stay still long enough

Absolutely not bad for all the inevitable light pollution and haze/smog.
What's the town?
