There are similar units but the price of the Fotodiox was the lowest. Whichever one you find make sure it has an aperture control ring.

I don't see this seller on UK ebay but perhaps they will ship. http://www.ebay.com/itm/RJ-Pentax-PK-PK-A-AF-DA-lens-to-Pentax-Q-adapter-wit...item20be8e40fd

I am obviously too lazy to re-read all of the thread, but I was thinking about acquiring the DA* F4 60-250 lens. Has anyone experimented with that one?

Saw this comment from Barondla previously - On dpreview brandrx shoots with a 60-250 at times and it looks close to Pentax 300 quaity. Slightly less sharp- slightly.

The Indiana Jones hummingbird came back to sit for a spell so I caught a short video of it with the DA*300.
Was testing the RD10 also, and was able to dial it in at a farther distance but it was off at the short distance the hummingbird landed.
It appears I need to dial in some medium setting for all-around use.

Amazing...!

I've found the DA 300's DOF can be very shallow so getting the critter in focus is quite tricky. You really nailed the eye... didn't know they blinked like that.

Pleae keep the examples rolling in...

Greatly appreciated... & thanks for sharing... M

Larry - that video is just fantastic!

The first thing that came to my mind is how you kept the camera/lens so rock steady at the focal length......I mean even on a decent tripod and head I still would think there would be some slight movement/vibration especially since you can see it was a bit windy in the video.

Well crewl1 , I looked at that and thought that's pretty good. I then set quality to HD and played it on full screen mode and I thought "WOW!" . And I've got a DA*300 on order :-)

Amazing! Put it on Pentax Facebook page and I'm sure that they will officially link to it.
Is there any PP done? Is it converted to something before upload? I simply can't get decent quality like that when uploading.

I was in a sheltered spot next to my garage so I didn't get any wind. I'm sure it would have been shaking a bit otherwise.

It even seems to lose a bit of quality on the upload to Youtube, the native file on my computer looks better.

I did a straight upload from the Q output file, nothing else not even an edit for length.
I haven't set anything specific on the Q for video, I just turned the knob to video after taking a couple of stills.
The settings when hitting the info button say Custom Image Natural, Filters Off, AE Metering Center Weighted, Recorded Pixels Full HD 1920x1080, Sound On, Movie SR On
I'll have to check into the Facebook suggestion, I think I have friended them but I don't use FB much so will need to figure that out.

Yes it seems very reptilian to me.

I went to the flying field today, probably one last time until next year. Had a little fun with the FE.

Larry, I'm with all the others. Beautiful.

First I switched to HD 1080P on my pc monitor and it was good. But then I tried on my projector and 106" screen: Fantastic!

Definitely something to send to Pentax...

Thanks for sharing!

Amazing hummingbird video. Their little hearts must beat so hard, you can count every beat.

Either that or they've got a nervous tick.
