I just tried with my 250-600, and I just don't know how to setup the camera... did you used Av mode ?
I am getting pretty good shots , but they are all Hi iso (3200 iso for most),
also did you used SR ? It seems to me that it helps a bit... but not sure
if you have aother setings/ tips to share, I'd be happy to hear them !

I'm shooting TAv mode. It's a mode I find very intuitive - just vary the shutter speed and let the ISO float where it may.
After much experimenting I've found that I don't need SR. I think it might have to do with having a very robust stable mount.
The upper limits of my ISO seems to be in the 1600 -2000 range and typically around 800-1000. This is at a fixed aperture of f/7.1.
My shutter speed floats between 160 and 320.
Other then that i do pay particular attention to PP. With such a small sensor I always shoot RAW and take the time to get the final image right in Photoshop.
In fact to the extent my images have any merit it has as much to do with proper PP as anything else.

ok, thanks Wildman for the advices...
when you say it's a fixed aperture of f/7.1, do you mean that you use the aperture ring on the lens to fix it ? or in camera ?
TAv mode is not available on the Q7, do you mean Tv mode ?
The Q-K adapter has a Dial from 0 to 8... do you set this to something specific ?
I also have a very sturdy tripod... I try to test without SR then...
but as you say, Focusing is not easy under full sun...
I saw in this thread someone ( @pacerr ) has a nice hood on his Q
What is it exactly ? I'd need one like this...
Also Another issue I had, is that the display is dimmed (still open, but darker) after few seconds, I have not found where to change this settings in the menus ...
Thanks in advance for your advices !
