Great shots, Spellcaster and NickLarsson. It's getting harder and harder to resist the siren call of the Q!

Interesting images but I'm wondering if you've used the camera's default B&W output or post processed the images to be heavy on the contrast at the expense of midtones. I find the default B&W from the Q to be hopelessly too contrasty and while they produce stark blacks and whites, there's really little tonal range. Just my opinion.

It's time you join the Q family.

Many nice images.

I'm curious. There are many square format images here from various posters.
Is there any particular reason for this? (eg. Simulate a TLR look??)
Nice choice of format btw, just really curious how quite a few ppl ended up choosing it for streets shots posted here.

Are you using the Digital Filter for B&W or the monochrome color mode? From the sound of it it sounds like the digital filter, that or the monochrome mode has had its settings adjusted.

Speaking for myself, I'm using the B/W preset with increased contrast and sharpness.
Initially I didn't want to PP shots from the Q since they were looking good on the camera LCD.
But on my computer screen they looked washed out so I increased contrast again with Color efex or with my own B/W preset in Aperture.
Maybe it's bad but I like high contrast when it comes to B/W.

About square format, I guess I've been instagramed

I don't know about other people, but I sometimes shoot 1:1 square photos with my Q when I intend to post them on Instagram (import to my iPad with the SD card adapter). I'm trying hard to reduce my amount of cropping and getting my composition right from the start. Occasionally some of my photos meant for Instagram will also end up in one of the threads here if I think it's good enough to share on PF.
