@Silver-Surfer:

nice shots....and what a good contrast!
The pic with the fire stairs I would crop so that only the stairs are on the photo.

Speaking for myself, I'm using the B/W preset with increased contrast and sharpness.
Initially I didn't want to PP shots from the Q since they were looking good on the camera LCD.
But on my computer screen they looked washed out so I increased contrast again with Color efex or with my own B/W preset in Aperture.
Maybe it's bad but I like high contrast when it comes to B/W.

About square format, I guess I've been instagramed

I don't know about other people, but I sometimes shoot 1:1 square photos with my Q when I intend to post them on Instagram (import to my iPad with the SD card adapter). I'm trying hard to reduce my amount of cropping and getting my composition right from the start. Occasionally some of my photos meant for Instagram will also end up in one of the threads here if I think it's good enough to share on PF.

Pat

PS: My instagram username is also ve2vfd

Hmm.. Instagram.... interesting...
Thanks guys, maybe I'd explore this.

Thanks I wasn't sure if I was too happy with it at first but I am getting better results each time I take it out. The most recent were shot Raw
custom settings "Natural" with the saturation +1sharpness bumped up +2
iso nr low
distortion correction off

I can't wait to get my k adapter and my c adapter
The c adapter is going to be hacked for 110 lenses with aperture disk slot

Funny thing is that Instagram is the "cheap fast food" of photography and the vast majority of photos on there are junk+crappy filters, but there are also many gems to be found. I find it interesting to work within the limitations of that app and see what others achieve within those limitations.

Liked both sequences, esp. number two in second. This is Toronto right (I'm going by the 'Dundas' street sign)
