Ugh... I thought I had too much last week with 60hours in the office. You deserve a 645D for that, not a mere Q!

I have laid claim to the third lens as well as a $499 Q off ebay. I needed a splurge after working 100 hours in each of past two weeks.
Congrats on the Q and Sonnetar but i had thought you would have been holding out for the K-01.

I doubt it will be the only 3 like someone mentioned...look at it this way, "we're you're paying test guinea pigs"...we can't post a decent image ( i speak for myself here lol) you didn't lose much

now to convince some sexy woman off the street...i'm only interested in taking her photos...lol (it's a joke don't read into it too much)

BTW PEntax Q users...at the top of the page, we're suppose to help Adam out here and add to those stickies, if you didn't know already

@deanm3, you'll need to add a couple more batteries.

You can get a few hours per battery (OEM) i think earlier users have mentioned this on the forum. These newer cameras seem to like to eat power.

Another one and more pictures:
MS Optical Sonnetar 25mm f/1.1 Pentax Q Mount Pentax-Q 25 F1.1 #007577 | eBay
Nouvel objectif pour Pentax Q : MS-Optical Sonnetar 25 mm f/1,1

The combination with the Q looks quite cute. However tempting it may be, this lens only equals a 135/5.6 on FF.

DOF is equivalent to 5.6 on FF, but light gathering ability is still equal to 1.1, correct?

135mm/5.6 equiv. with minimum focusing of .5M doesn't seem too bad to me.

Hi Dean,

You are correct. f-stop is a numerical representation of relative light gathering capability, and IMO just adds a whole lot of confusion when used in relation to DOF since most photographers nowadays don't really have a common reference for DOF since it's also so dependent on FL, distance and sensor format. If there is a most common experiential reference for DOF (and FOV for that matter), it's with APS-C, the overwhelmingly dominant format for digital ILCs for the past 6, if not 10 years, and not 35mm format.

In my (admittedly addled) brain, this lens translates to about the same FOV and DOF as a 90mm f4 or thereabouts (on my K-5) that one can shoot at f1.1, and that is pretty far from being bad IMO.

An F/1.1 telephoto for the Q? Bring it on.

When the Q first surfaced and everyone bemoaned the small sensor, I piped up and said, "Hey, do you guys not like really frickin' fast telephoto lenses?"

Glad to see someone's working it up to the potential I thought it had.

There is, however, one pitfall to the "relative" DOF thing; It all depends on distance. A short lens hits infinity sooner than a long one, so even with a super-wide aperture, there are limits to what it can do.

Still as a street lens i can see this being awesome. F1.1 so night time streets are realistically done without bumping iso to insane levels, and DOF for isolation on it should be sufficient to still get natural OOF areas

at 10 feet this should be the number which is pretty respectable

Depth of field
Near limit 9.74 ft
Far limit 10.3 ft
Total 0.54 ft

Even at 15 feet (allowing for the longer FL) it's pretty easy to work with

Depth of field
Near limit 14.4 ft
Far limit 15.6 ft
Total 1.24 ft

Damn now you have me wanting a Q with this lens Clicker Damn you Damn you all to hell
