First day with the Q

What a fantastic little camera! I've owned over the last 3 months the J1, NEX5N, and now the Q and after one day I think I can honestly say the Q is my fav. The image quality is surprisingly good for such a small little sensor, and the features built in are just a blast to play with. It is surprisingly powerful and versatile, and its incredibly well built. I just cannot stop snapping to play with all the different settings.

The trick is going to be to shoot without doing any post processing over the next month. I did a bit on the photos below (Aside the black and white one, thats just a straight out shot).

Like the photo's I am on the fence for a Q mainly because it has not many lenses. Non the less it seems to be a great set up.

What are your dislikes about the Q?

Hello Wired, glad you are enjoying the Q. Seems almost everyone shooting the Q loves the build quality and control layout. Q is so much fun to use and very difficult to stop using.
Like your photos. All the sound boxes give a clue to your user name. Nice! Can't wait to see more pics.
thanks

thanks guys.

not much so far I dislike. after owning the other two I can make some comparisons...

some features I miss:
j1 had a slow motion video mode that is tons of fun
NEX had the panorama mode which is awesome

I do wish there was more control over the quick dial. having to set it for only aspect ratio or filters etc is a small disappointment. I wish I could put hdr, b&w, 16x9, and 4x3 all on the dial instead of having to choose.

a quick raw button like on my k5 would be awesome too. but that's nit picking.

at the end of the day the camera is much easier to use than the Nikon and is much more user friendly than both. all three have different features but in the end it comes down to what you want or need out of a camera.

Don't forget that the Q has the opposite of slow motion video - the interval movie mode, which can also be lots of fun

Wired, the Green button can be reconfigured in the menu (3rd page of camera) to switch to raw! You can also convert last jpeg into raw via prompt on lcd. This isn't always allowed when doing special effects like hdr. Enjoy the new Q.
thanks

Both of these features are available and they are in the manual, although they seem a little vague.

Quick raw is available after you take a picture you have an option to save to raw by hitting the +/- button

The quick dial can be configured to smart filters, custom image, digital filters and aspect ratio.

Yea i just found the raw features.

I understand the quick dial can be set to those for. But what I want to do is mix and match. Have aspect and filter on the same dial

Seem to be liking the Bold B&W mode the most.

Still running around shooting with this surprising little camera.

Lots of post processing here. But mostly dodge/burn tool and manipulation of the saturation sliders.
