Mother bug and her cute babies - DFA100 macro

No idea what kind of bug these are. They are small. This is Pentax DFA100 at min focus distance with 25mm extension tube. Greater than life size magnification. Shot at f4. Tripod mounted. Getting better with this combo and the macro slider helped greatly with the focus. Now if the wind would stop.

Tried some images with the Olympus OM 20mm f2 macro. They are around 3X life size. Spent 10 minutes trying to "find" subject on lcd. Need a Reddot finder equivalent for macro. Not sure what that would be yet ( easy with DSLR). Maybe a projecting led that could be aimed for the subject distance.

An aphid of one variety or another. They are born pregnant and give birth to live young. Frequently. They suck the life out of plants resulting in decline or death. They are also responsible for the transmission of a wide range of plant diseases. Think of them as malaria mosquitoes for plants. </lecture>

Returning you now to your regularly scheduled photography forum...

Nice pic by the way.

And they're yummy food for a wide variety of insect predators. They produce loads of female offspring by parthenogenesis first, then mate and produce a mixed brood, so the males have lots of partners once they're mature...

I'd like to get some images of ladybugs, lacewings etc. chomping on aphids.

Nice image!
