Q reviewed by Monitor magazine

Our top tech magazine reviewed the Q and K-01 (check respective forum). Here's for the Q:

Scores:
Image Quality 3/10
Design, build quality etc. 6/10

Pros: Size, weight, "Toy Lens" prices, functionality vs. size, in-built ND filter in "Standard" lenses

Cons: Sensor size and noise, lack of AF and aperture control in the "Toy" lenses, lack of 200mm+ equivalent native lens.

Quick summary: You need to take comments about the sensor with a grain of salt, since they wrote that it's on par with the best compacts. They mentioned the low price and expandability, full manual control and external control along with a great design, handling and build quality.

I'd post a picture, but I don't think many understand Slovene. Ask if you want it posted.

I picked up a Q for $450 but returned the following day. While it is an exceptionally fun and fascinating camera, I found the LCD to be practically useless in day light; which is too bad, because I really enjoyed the camera otherwise.

I don't know, it attracts me a lot. I wouldn't buy it as a main camera but definitely it's better than my point and shoot - if this makes sense. True that my point and shoot wasn't $450...

An optical VF is an easy addition, plenty to choose from too

Without debating the reviewer's assessment of the quality of the sensor or JHD's experiences leading him/her to return the camera so quickly, I have found the Q to be a joy to use and am very happy with the images it produces. Yeah, it's a small sensor. But it does amazing things with that small sensor. And yeah, you can hardly see the display in bright sun (sadly common with many cameras). So I use an external viewfinder in that situation. Overall, for the record, I'm a happy camper with my lil' Q. Just wishing Pentax would hurry up and release those lenses on their roadmap.
