Received my PK to Q adapter (3rd party of course)

The Q is an interesting beast when playing with proper manual lenses.

The Q+Sigma 600mm requires a really really stable tripod! We're talking "hang a sandbag under tripod" stability here And of course it requires LOTS of light.

Yup, if we assume a crop factor of 5.5 we're getting an effective 3,300mm

Will be going for a walk later and will post pics after.

Hi. can you tell me which pk to q adapter you have bought? (and from where).
does it comes with tripod hole? if yours is from ebay, how good the build quality? expecially the joint between adapter and tripod thingy (we dont want it to be break while mounting longzoom lenses)

I have pentax K-x with few k-mounts lenses (prime, autofocus, etc) so im thinking to use those lenses with my new Q

Hi Erwinsie! It's an "RJ" adapter which I got off Ebay. I don't remember the price, but it was dirt cheap.

It has a tripod mount hole, but it doesn't look very solid. It held my M50 prime and 135mm tak prime, but I'm not sure I'd put anything heavier. My DA*60-250 and Sigma 600mm have their own tripod mount.

Otherwise the build quality is fine. The mount on both the camera side and lens sides are fine.

Hope this helps!

Oh and as promised, here is a Sigma Mirror 600mm pic... it's not as sharp as I'd like as it was quite windy that night and even with a sandbag hanging under the tripod, the lens was catching in the wind...

Is that a footprint I see under crater 47? Very cool!

hi pat, thanks for the review. i think i found it. its around USD50 now. not as cheap as i imagine
anyway, im thinking to use it with my tamron macro 90mm. my vivitar 300mm maybe too heavy for the tripod mount hole. im wondering if the official adapter is way much better but again no point since i just cant spend $250 for it.

I believe that the Fotodiox w/ aperture control is the same unit as the RJ one, and it has been working out fine for me.

Not sure if you can get it in Australia, though. Amazon.com: Fotodiox Lens Mount Adapter w/ Aperture Dial, Pentax K/PK Lens to Pentax Q-Series Camera, fits Pentax Q Mirrorless Cameras: Camera & Photo

thanks. looks i can put it on my cart fine. cool!
just heard from someone that the original adapter has shutter built in on it? and the ebay ones dont have.
why shutter build in makes the adapter better?
im planning to use this adapter on my 50mm manual focus, 90mm tamron macro AF, 24-80mm AF

Hey, could you find Apollo for us?

Looks like the small sensor is very demanding on the lens.
